Irvine

The Irvine Golf Club course is a traditional links which owes much of its current layout and character to the work of Scottish course architect James Braid. His design uses the natural contours of the terrain, changes of direction are frequents, and no two golf holes are alike.

The course is not directly by the sea but enjoys links turf. The fairways are tight and lined with gorse and heather, bunkers are challengingly placed and the greens have a reputation for being fast and true. There are only two par 3 holes and one par 5, so the rest of the holes are intended to be reached in two. The golf course is therefore often stretching for visitors to play to handicap.

Established in 1887, Irvine Golf Club has been regularly used by as a Final Qualifying course for the Open Championship when held at Royal Troon or Turnberry. Other professional and amateur events to be hosted here include the Ladies British Open Final Qualifying, the Scottish Seniors Championship and the Ladies Home Internationals.
