Barassie Links

The Barassie Links is the Championship layout of holes at the Kilmarnock Golf Club. The Club is just to the north of Troon on the west coast of Scotland, and not in Kilmarnock itself. To the north of the course is Western Gailes, as well as Dundonald Links and Glasgow Gailes, while to the south are the public links of Lochgreen and Darley, as well as Royal Troon Golf Club and then on to Prestwick Golf Club. This is truly quality links country.

There are 27 holes at Kilmarnock Barassie Golf Club, which offer a mixture of layouts, but the golf course normally played by visitors, and indeed used for both amateur and professional tournaments, is the Barassie Links. The course featured regularly as a Final Qualifying venue for the Open Championship when held at Royal Troon and Turnberry as well as hosting numerous R&A tournaments, including the Boys Amateur Championship in 2010 and Final Qualifying for the 2012 Senior Open.

The club are very proud of the course's reputation for excellent greens and challenging fairways, as well as the welcome extended to visiting golfers. The 27 holes give visitors the opportunity for a full day of golf, with lunch between a 9 hole and 18 hole round.

The Barassie links ticks all the boxes for a testing golf course, with heather and gorse along the fairways, deep bunkers, large greens and plenty of undulations to both the fairways and the greens. The course is also one of the longer older Scottish courses, at over 6,800 yards off the medal tees.

Like Gailes Links beside it, or Irvine to the north, Kilmarnock Barassie offers enjoyable and challenging golf on a quality course at a price below the top tier names with which visiting golfers may be more familiar.

In 2014 the course was ranked by National Club Golfer and Lady Golfer magazines as one of "Britain's Best 100 Courses under £100".
