The enjoyable parkland course at Stranraer Golf Club in the south west of Scotland was designed by renowned Scottish golf architect and five times Open Champion James Braid. This was his last course design – he came out of retirement specially to plan the Creachmore course. The golf course has just one par 5, but some long par 4s.
The Creachmore course lies on undulating ground in a lovely setting on the west side of Loch Ryan. There are beautiful views north to Ailsa Craig and beyond. The location enjoys a mild climate as a result of the Gulf Stream.
Although there are sea views and some holes are close to the loch, most of the holes are inland on a hilly setting, surrounded by trees.
The golf course has a reputation for excellent greens and condition. Unfortunately James Braid did not live to see the course completed but Stranraer Golf Club are very proud to enjoy his final, splendid, design.
