Schloss Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course

Number of rooms: 20

The stylish and elegant Schloss Roxburghe Hotel is a country house style hotel, set in a Jacobean mansion previously owned by the Duke of Roxburghe. The hotel and championship Roxburghe golf course are in 300 acres of parkland amongst the rolling hills of the beautiful Scottish Borders, close to the town of Kelso.

The beautiful location presents a tranquil environment to enjoy the nature around the Hotel. Inside, all public areas and the bedrooms are presented to a very high standard, combining modern facilities with traditional elements and a nod to the heritage of this historic building. Public areas, while offering all the comfort of a luxury hotel, retain original features.

Each of the 20 bedrooms were fully refurbished in 2019. Deluxe and Superior rooms are available, along with indulgent Suites, many with extensive views of the Estate. Each room has a unique style and all rooms include luxury touches such as bathrobes and slippers and underfloor heating in the bathrooms.

Over the course of the next year, an extension will be added to the historic building which will see the addition of 58 bedrooms and suites, a new restaurant, extensive spa facilities, a swimming pool and purpose built banqueting suite. This is aimed to be complete by Summer 2021.

Driving time to the 4 main Scottish airports is shown below. The Schloss Roxburghe Hotel is also 90 minutes drive from Newcastle Airport.

Golf:

The Roxburghe Championship golf course, designed by Dave Thomas, was opened in 1997. Directly outside the Hotel the course features wide fairways, testing, well-positioned bunkers, and large rolling greens, plus a number of water hazards. The course signature hotel, the par 5 14th, Viaduct, is in a particularly beautiful setting alongside the River Teviot. Half a dozen other enjoyable and scenic Border courses, both 9 and 18 hole, are within a 30 minute drive of the Schloss Roxburghe Hotel.

Dining:

The main restaurant is Sunlaws, open every night for dinner, and where breakfast is served. Menus make use, as far as possible, of sustainable local produce, including from the Hotel's own estate. Both food and drinks are available in the modern styled State Room during the day and in the historic Bar 1745 in the evening. Both rooms offer open fires and the Bar also serves food in the evening.

The traditionally styled Drawing Room also has an open fire, and where afternoon tea is served.

Breakfast rolls as well as lunchtime light snacks are served daily in the Fairways Restaurant in the Clubhouse.

Leisure:

The Spa is currently closed but will be opened after a full refurbishment in 2021.

Guests can enjoy golf, fishing – in either the River Teviot or the Hotel's own trout pond – clay pigeon shooting, archery or explore beyond the Hotel grounds for cycling, horse riding or hiking. The Schloss Roxburghe Hotel is just 5 miles from Kelso Racecourse, which is the home of National Hunt Racing in the Scottish Borders.
