All of the major international car rental companies can be found in Scotland.
Scotland's own national car rental company, Arnold Clark Car Rental, is also a good option to consider with a network of branches at key locations.
For groups of 4 or more golfers we recommend considering Arnold Clark's Large MPVs. These are 8 or 9 seater vehicles which make a comfortable option for 4 golfers on a week or longer stay with clubs and luggage or are well suited to 6 golfers on a shorter stay. They are available with both automatic and manual transmission. These vehicles are not generally found with the international rental companies.
Many visitors find renting from an airport the most convenient options. All of Scotland's airports are well located for the main road networks.
A word of caution - if planning a stay in central Edinburgh or Glasgow for sightseeing beyond your golf you may find it easier to avoid having a car in these cities. Edinburgh in particular is not car friendly for those unfamiliar with the city. Parking is limited and expensive, and few city centre hotels have their own parking areas. Some hotels are close to multi-storey car parks.
Arnold Clark Car Rental - Shuttle services operate from the airport terminals at Aberdeen and Inverness to city branches. Shuttle services operate to nearby off-airport branches at both Edinburgh and Glasgow. At Dundee Airport, Arnold Clark offers a meet and greet service.
