Torrance, Fairmont St Andrews

Since its original opening the Torrance course at the Fairmont St Andrews went through a major re-design prior to being selected as a Final Qualifying course for the Open Championship in 2010. It features on the European Seniors Tour and has hosted the Scottish Seniors Open.

The golf course was always intended to be links in style, despite its cliff top setting. The redesign has further enhanced the links feel of the course with 8 new holes and the introduction of classic Scottish revetted bunkers. There is the difficult rough you would expect of a links layout. Greens tend to be fast and true.

On the front nine many of the golf holes are close to the Fairmont Hotel so it is not till the second half of the course that the setting really comes into its own – when the layout is much closer to the coastline. Like its sister course the Kittocks the Torrance offers wonderful views out to sea, as well to the town of St Andrews down below. The location is quite beautiful.
